Five-year-old child suffers life-changing injuries in horrific dog attack

A five-year-old child has sustained life-changing injuries following a horror dog attack. Police were summoned to reports of a dog bite at a residence in Broad Lane, Rochdale, at approximately 2.40pm on Friday, February 11.

The child was rushed to hospital with severe injuries believed to be life-altering. Police said that the dog was ‘safely recovered’, no arrests have been made, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Witnesses recounted observing an air ambulance landing at nearby Balderstone Park on Sunday afternoon, with police cars positioned close to the location of the attack.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: ‘On Sunday 11 February 2024, at around 2.40pm, officers were called to reports of a dog bite at an address on Broad Lane, Rochdale. ‘A five-year-old child sustained serious injuries that necessitated hospital treatment, with these injuries believed to be life-changing.’
