Two elderly individuals have been discovered deceased in a residence in Rochdale after the police responded to a welfare call made by a concerned neighbour. Authorities forced entry into a property at The Woods, near Castleton Moor, and found two people, both in their 70s, lying dead inside. A substantial emergency response team, including forensics, fire crews, and paramedics, swiftly arrived at the quiet cul-de-sac.
The cause of the couple’s death has not been confirmed yet, and a Home Office post-mortem will now be conducted. Investigations continued throughout the night at the scene, with forensics personnel in white suits observed entering the detached house.
In the aftermath of this double tragedy, a startled resident shared with the MEN: “We don’t really know the family but they’re an elderly couple. A really nice couple. It’s just two of them. I just moved here a year ago, and it’s really weird to see that on your doorstep.”
