Singer-songwriter Coco Lee has passed away at the age of 48.
The tragic news follows an incident over the weekend where the Hong Kong-born star made an attempt on her own life. In a heart-wrenching statement, Coco’s older sisters Carol and Nancy Lee confirmed the sad news.
“It is with immense sadness that we are here to deliver the most devastating news: Coco had been battling depression for several years, but her condition worsened significantly in recent months,” they shared on social media.
“Despite seeking professional help and making every effort to combat depression, unfortunately, that inner demon proved too strong.”
Coco was rushed to the hospital after her suicide attempt at home on Sunday, as stated by her siblings.
“Despite the hospital team’s best efforts to rescue and treat her while she was in a coma, she tragically passed away on Wednesday.”
