The body of a missing holidaymaker has been discovered at cliffs near a popular tourist destination. The gentleman was reported missing from an Exmouth campsite last night, prompting emergency services to swiftly respond to the incident.
Authorities have confirmed that the body of a man in his 60s was found at the foot of a cliff at Orcombe Point several hours later. The man was identified as a tourist, hailing from Northamptonshire.
A spokesperson for the Devon and Cornwall Police stated, “At approximately 7.30 pm on Monday, the police were notified regarding a person who had gone missing from a holiday park in the Exmouth vicinity.”
“Police officers, in collaboration with the National Police Air Service and the RNLI, conducted search operations. Subsequently, at around 8.40 pm, a body was discovered at the base of the cliffs in Exmouth.”
“The body was transported to the shore and declared deceased shortly thereafter. The deceased individual, a man in his 60s from the Northamptonshire region, has been identified, and his next of kin have been duly informed.”
“No foul play is suspected in relation to this fatality, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
