Tragedy struck in Cambridge as a devastating blaze engulfed a property, claiming the lives of two children and a woman.
The emergency was reported at 1:08 am on Friday when thick smoke permeated the windows of a two-storey maisonette located at Sackville Close.
Approximately 30 firefighters valiantly battled the flames, working tirelessly to douse the fire and prevent its spread to adjacent properties.
A man in his 30s managed to escape the flat before the arrival of the fire crews, albeit sustaining severe injuries. He was promptly transported to the hospital, where he currently remains in a critical condition.
Firefighters heroically rescued two children, a boy and a girl, from the premises. Though both received immediate care from the dedicated firefighters and paramedics at the scene, tragically, they succumbed to their injuries and passed away later in the hospital.
Regrettably, a woman in her 30s lost her life at the scene of the incident.
