RSPCA hunting youths who ‘kicked pet cat and threw cans at him’ leaving him with suspected broken ribs

The RSPCA is currently searching for a group of youths who are accused of assaulting a pet cat by kicking and throwing cans at it, causing great distress to the cat’s owners.

According to witnesses, the incident occurred on Saturday night on Turncroft Lane in Offerton, Stockport. The group of youths reportedly took turns kicking the cat named Tosca and hurling cans at it.

Tosca, who has previously endured abandonment, being run over, and even “kidnapping,” was promptly taken to a veterinarian by a Good Samaritan who intervened in the situation. An ultrasound scan and an x-ray are required to assess the extent of the injuries sustained in the attack, but it is suspected that Tosca may have suffered broken ribs and a hernia.

Ryan McHugh, a 31-year-old father-of-three who rescued Tosca from a shelter, expressed profound devastation over the incident. He further revealed that the exorbitant vet bills nearly led them to consider euthanizing their beloved cat.

“It’s incredibly distressing. We are all devastated,” shared Mr. McHugh.
