Prince William has spoken of his disgust while condemning the “unacceptable” racist abuse that England players have been subjected to since losing the Euro 2020 final to Italy.
Star players Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka were hit with torrents of racist comments on their social media following the match on Sunday evening.
And in a statement shared on his Twitter on Monday morning, the royal wrote: “I am sickened by the racist abuse aimed at England players after last night’s match.
“It is totally unacceptable that players have to endure this abhorrent behaviour.
“It must stop now and all those involved should be held accountable,” the 39 year old concluded.
William’s message of condemnation comes just hours after he sent a message of consolation to the England team after their Euros loss.
Devastated William wrote: “You’ve all come so far, but sadly this time it wasn’t our day. You can all hold your heads high, and be so proud of yourselves.”
“I know there’s more to come. W,” the football fanatic added.
