Prince Philip mourners line the streets of Windsor to pay respects to popular duke

For decades, the people of Windsor delighted in seeing Prince Phillip riding his carriages up the Long Walk.

Today, at the same spot, they clutched memorial flowers, their smiles replaced with sorrow.

While most heeded the official advice to watch the Duke’s funeral on TV, some well-wishers turned out to pay their respects in the town where he spent much of his life with the Queen.

The sun shone and police lined the streets ahead of the 3pm service.

Artist Kaya Mar brought a portrait of the Duke of Edinburgh he painted last Friday on hearing news of his death.
