Heat warning issued by Met Office as temperatures rocket to 30C within days

A yellow heat warning has been issued as an ‘Iberian plume’ moves across from Europe, bringing with it the likelihood of temperatures soaring to 30°C within the next few days.

The warning is currently in effect from 9am on Friday 9th June until 9am on Monday 12th June.

According to the government website, if the forecasts are accurate, there is a possibility of impacts on the health and social care sector.

The regions covered by the yellow alert are London, East Midlands, West Midlands, East of England, South East, and the South West.

A yellow alert signifies that healthcare services may face additional pressure as higher temperatures increase health risks for individuals aged 65 and above, as well as those with pre-existing health conditions such as respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
