Dave Myers fans fume ‘seriously’ over ‘inappropriate’ tribute on Saturday Kitchen

Saturday Kitchen fans were not too impressed as they criticised the show’s “unbelievable” tribute to Dave Myers. On Saturday (2nd March), the long-standing programme returned to screens with Matt Tebbutt back as host. However, viewers were quick to voice their complaints.

At the beginning of the show, host Matt and the rest of the panel waved flags to celebrate Rick Stein Day. Rick, a celebrity chef renowned for his seafood restaurants in Cornwall and Dorset, was being honoured.

Nonetheless, fans observed that the latest episode should have been dedicated to Dave instead. Instead of focusing solely on Dave, host Matt offered a brief tribute to him and shared a poignant film montage with viewers. Following the footage of Si and Dave, Matt remarked: “He [Dave] would have relished being part of celebrating Rick today. So, let’s carry Dave in our hearts and get on with today’s show.”

Viewers were left frustrated at their screens, expressing their discontent that the show did not honour Dave properly. On X, formerly known as Twitter, one person remarked: “Shouldn’t you lot on #saturdaykitchen at least wear a black armband in respect to Hairy.

Another person fumed: “Rick Stein Day?! Seriously? Shouldn’t today’s programme be dedicated to Dave Myers?.” A third viewer raged: “WTF – in the week we lose Dave Myers SaturdayKitchen decides to spurn one of their most entertaining guests go with 90mins of kissing Rick Stein’s a**e?! Not even a mention of him in the opening segment. Unbelievable.”

Another individual chimed in and wrote: “I’ve clearly missed something. Why all the tributes to Rick? Anyone would think it was he who passed away, not Dave Myers.”
