Her highly anticipated return to Walford was confirmed in June this year.
And a first look at Charlie Brooks in her comeback as the scheming Janine Butcher was released by bosses on Thursday evening.
The actress, 40, can be seen in Albert Square for the first time since 2014 as she walks through the door of a property looking stern in a white high-collard shirt with a black bow to the front.
Wearing a green coat, Janine alludes she will bring trouble to Albert Square as she glares straight ahead with a slight smirk on her face.
The clip was shared on the BBC soap’s social media channels, showing the residents of Walford going about their business at local establishments such as the launderette, Kathy’s café or the Queen Vic.
Character Kim Fox, played by Tameka Empson, can be heard saying how the people of London’s East End all ‘look out for each other’, adding: ‘We’re family.’
Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy), Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) all appear in the trailer in familiar locations around the square.
And as Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) tries to cross the road she is stopped by Isaac Baptiste (Stevie Basula) as an oblivious Janine erratically drives a convertible car down the street.
The video was captioned on Twitter: ‘Summer may be ending, but everything in Walford is just heating up. #EastEnders #itswhoweare #Janine.’
