Bomb threat on Ryanair flight – more than 190 passenger onboard

Greek F-16 jets were scrambled to escort a Ryanair plane flying from Katowice in Poland to Athens following reports of a bomb threat on board, the Greek Defence Ministry said.

The plane, carrying 190 passengers, landed safely shortly before 9 p.m. local time Monday, two hours after taking off from Katowice’s Pyrzowice International Airport.

The plane landed safely at Athens International Airport at 5.40pm, local time. Police and firefighters surrounded the plane after it landed at a remote spot at the airport and was inspected by the bomb squad, ANA reported.

Passengers were taken off the plane and searched as well as their luggage, who also inspected the aircraft itself.
