A group of five women, who were preparing for a friend’s wedding by getting henna tattoos, have tragically lost their lives when a driver attempting to flee from the police collided with their car.
The victims of this horrific incident have been identified as Sabiriin Ali, 17, Sahra Gesaade, 20, Salma Abdikadir, 20, Sagal Hersi, 19, and Siham Adam, 19. Among them, three were cousins, one was a relative, and another was a close friend.
The women had been engaged in last-minute shopping at a shopping mall in Minneapolis on Friday, where they also had henna tattoos applied in preparation for the wedding celebration scheduled for the following day. It was while they were on their way home that the accident occurred.
Just before 10 p.m., as they were driving along Lake Street, an SUV being pursued by a state trooper disregarded a red traffic light and collided with their vehicle.
Tragically, all five women were pronounced dead at the crash site. The driver responsible for the collision has been identified as Derrick John Thompson, a 27-year-old individual, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
