Worry for Premier League striker as his plane goes missing over Guernsey

Emiliano Sala’s family “desperate” for news on Cardiff striker after plane goes missing

Sala had returned to Nantes to bid farewell to his teammates after completing a club-record move to Cardiff

Emiliano Sala’s parents admit they are desperate for news on their son.

The Argentine striker was on board a missing private jet travelling from Nantes to Cardiff.

Sala had completed a club-record move to Cardiff before heading back to his former club to bid farewell to his old teammates.

The plane went missing off the coast of Guernsey with search operations well underway.

Sala’s family remain in Argentina with his father Horacio made aware of the devastating developments by a friend.

“A friend told me, I did not know anything, I’m in Rosario. I spoke to Emiliano on Sunday,” he told Argentine channel C5N.

“Still nobody from Nantes has communicated with us, we are worried, desperate, this took us all by surprise.

“I don’t have any information on the journey, the only thing I know is that it was a small plane.

“They are saying that the plane lost control in the channel. I don’t know what could have happened. I am speechless.”

Sala’s mother Mercedes claimed that the striker had travelled back to Nantes on board a plane belonging to Cardiff and the club had confirmed the vehicle had disappeared.

Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman said: “We are very concerned by the latest news that a light aircraft lost contact over the Channel last night.

“We are awaiting confirmation before we can say anything further. We are very concerned for the safety of Emiliano Sala.”
