Woman ‘found dead’ after man shouting “Allahu Akbar” goes on knife rampage

A woman has reportedly been found dead with her throat slashed near scenes of a machete rampage in Sydney.

Footage had shown a man brandishing a knife on a top of a car in the Australian city’s business district shouting “Allahu Akbar” on Tuesday, August 13.

Police are now investigating whether there is a link between the incident and the woman who was reportedly found dead on the fourth floor of a hotel on Clarence Street.

Another two women are said to have been injured in the knife rampage, reports the Mirror.

A dramatic video from the scene shows a brave member of the public confronting the attacker with a chair before shouting at police to ‘shoot him’.

The attacker is then seen being pinned to floor by a milk crate as members of the public frantically wait for police officers to arrive.

Local media reports suggest that the suspect had recently escaped from a mental health facility.

A police spokesman said: “Inquiries are underway after the body of a woman was found inside a unit on Clarence St in Sydney at about 3.15pm today.

“Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command are on the scene and will conduct inquiries into whether the incident is linked to an earlier stabbing at a hotel on the corner of Clarence and King streets.”
