MEGHAN MARKLE may have already given birth after major bookmaker PaddyPower suspended all royal baby bets after a flurry of flutters.
PaddyPower says it has been forced to suspend all bets after a huge surge in punter activity. The bookies suggest the spike in bets is evidence Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s eagerly-anticipated royal tot has already come into the world. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been lying low in their new abode, Frogmore Cottage, after announcing they want to keep details of the birth private.
A Palace announcement is, however, expected when the baby is born.
Despite the expectation of an official royal announcement, bookmakers PaddyPower insist “someone knows something and perhaps the child is already born”.
The firm said in a statement: “Bookmakers have suspended all bets on the day of birth of Baby Sussex, believing that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s child has already arrived.
“Paddy Power have seen a spike in betting on the day and date of birth in the last hour, forcing them to stop taking bets on when there will be a royal arrival.
A spokesman for the company added: “We’ve suspended betting on which day Harry and Meghan’s baby will arrive following a huge increase in wagers this evening which indicate to us that someone knows something – and perhaps the child is already born.
“That, combined with the rumours and speculation has us convinced that the royal arrival has already happened and if the betting is anything to go by, it’s almost certainly a baby girl.”
The firm believe the child will be a girl with odds-on 8/11.
The most likely name according to the odds is Diana (3/1), though Grace (7/1) Allegra (8/1) and Alice (10/1) have all proven popular this week.
