Poppy Appeal collection boxes reported stolen

Hampshire Constabulary has received a report that two collection boxes were stolen yesterday from a stall set up in Festival Place.

An 84-year-old man who was manning the stall outside the Marks and Spencer store was packing up when he noticed the two boxes containing cash were taken.

The theft has been reported as having happened between 5.30pm and 6pm yesterday, which was the day of the official launch of this year’s Poppy Appeal campaign.

A police investigation is underway and officers are making enquiries.
