OSAMA Bin Laden’s son and rumoured heir – Hamza bin Laden – is dead, according to US reports.
Hamza, who is the reported heir to the al-Qaeda terror group, was confirmed dead by three US officials, NBC reports.
NBC reported Hamza’s death this morning but the US has yet to confirm whether the country had a role in it.
Hamza, who has been dubbed the “crown prince of jihad,” had previously made statements urging al-Qaeda followers to wage war on London, Washington, Paris and Tel Aviv.
Five months ago, the US State Department released a statement offering a hefty $1million bounty for information leading to Hamza’s whereabouts.
The statement read: “The Justice Program is offering a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to the identification or location in any country of AQ key leader Hamza bin Laden.
“Hamza bin Laden is the son of deceased former AQ leader Osama bin Laden and is emerging as a leader in the AQ franchise.
“Since at least August 2015, he has released audio and video messages on the internet calling on his followers to launch attacks against the United States and its Wester allies, and he had threatened attacks against the United States in revenge for the May 2011 killing of his father by U.S. service members.”
Osama bin Laden became the world’s most wanted man following the 2001 September 11 World Trade Centre and Pentagon attacks.
Four commercial jets crashed into the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and another in a field in Pennsylvania.
Last August, it was revealed Hamza had married the daughter of Mohammed Atta, the lead hijacker in the 9/11 terror attacks.
