When it comes to fashion, the Duchess of Cambridge is pretty much always spot on and her wardrobe is the envy of women across the world.
She always manages to look glamorous, regardless of whether she’s having at go at sports during official visits or attending the fanciest balls in the world.
But it seems the mum-of-three has made a rare fashion mistake for State Banquet at Buckingham Palace , and fans are baffled by her outfit.
One even labelled the kingfisher blue Alexander McQueen dress as her ‘worst ever’, and many more are comparing it to something from the 1980s.
Kate teamed the dress with Princess Diana’s Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara, Collingwood Pearl Drop Earrings and a necklace from Queen Alexandra’s Wedding Parure – but the bling still wasn’t enough to distract from the dress.
Fans took to social media to share their views on the dress, with many saying it belonged in the 1980s.

I think it’s sweet Carole Middleton let Kate borrow her prom dress for the state banquet. https://t.co/jGOaOWY1Fm
