Horror as man is stabbed in busy Co-op shop

A SHOP worker has been stabbed during an attempted robbery at a Co-op today.

Police are now hunting for the knifeman after the horrific attack unfolded at the Manchester supermarket this morning.

A witness this morning told Manchester Evening News: “There was blood everywhere on the floor. There are a lot of police.”

Greater Manchester Police confirmed they had been called to the supermarket on Withington Road in Whalley Range about 7.20am.

They said: “Police were called to reports that a man had been stabbed at the Co-op on Withington Road in Whalley Range.

“Officers attended and a 46-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.

“No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”

A spokesman for the Co-op said: “Our thoughts are with a colleague who has been taken to hospital following an incident at our Whalley Range store around 7:30am this morning.
