SIX CHILDREN from a family of eight have been rushed to hospital after their Christmas tree caught fire.
The family’s tree was wiped out in the lounge by the fire, which damaged the rest of the property.
All eight family members have been rushed to hospital.
Firefighters swooped to the scene in Paignton, Devon, and officers remain at the scene.
The cause of the fire is not yet know.
A Devon and Somerset fire service spokesperson said: “Two crews from Paignton attended a property fire at above address.
“Fire extinguished using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.
“Family of eight taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.
“Cause of fire still being investigated. An ambulance was requested for two adults and six children.
“The fire was in the lounge. The Christmas tree was destroyed and the rest of property suffered smoke damage.”
