Absolutely terrible news for Michael Bublé fans

Michael Michael Bublé has announced his retirement after admitting he no longer ‘has the stomach’ for fame after his son Noah’s liver cancer diagnosis.

Giving what he called his ‘last interview’, the crooner said he’s done with fame and the anxiety it brings, and admitted he ‘just wanted to die’ when he learned Noah was sick.

Struggling to even talk about the devastation he and his wife, Argentinian actress Luisana Lopilato, felt after Noah fell sick aged just three, Bublé said that he is withdrawing from public life.

“My whole being’s changed. My perception of life. I don’t know if I can get through this conversation without crying. And I’ve never lost control of my emotions in public,” he told the Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine.

“I don’t have the stomach for it any more. The celebrity narcissism. This is my last interview. I’m retiring. I’ve made the perfect record and now I can leave at the very top,” he said.

Noah’s cancer is now in remission and the family – Michael, Luisana and their other two children Elias and Vida, are slowly returning to normal life.

Michael has even, despite his talk of retirement, been making music again with his album Love to be released on November 16

“It wasn’t as straightforward as, ‘My son’s recovered, I should make an album.’ I’d told my manager I wanted to take a ten-year sabbatical, so I could hang out and be bad,” he said.

“I missed the guys in my band so I said to them, ‘Come over to the house, let’s drink, order pizza, play video games and jam.’ They came over, we partied and we said, ‘Let’s play some music.’ I thought, ‘Wow! This is fun.’”

In a Today Show interview, he said that the support of fans and well-wishers had helped as he and his wife were going through “the worst possible thing that you could hear as a parent and maybe as a human being.

“More times than people could understand, some days we wished we didn’t wake up.

“When we did, we felt the love of those people, we felt we knew they were praying for us.”

As well as recording his new, perhaps final, album Michael has also been working with James Corden on a Carpool Karaoke special for the Stand Up To Cancer fundraising campaign.

Michael’s album Love will be released on 16 November.
